The Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, announced that the plans for the centerpiece stadium of the 2020 Olympic games have been completely scrapped and the development will start from scratch.

Meanwhile the stadium built for 's Olympics of 1964 was still being used before it was demolished recently.

 

No word on how a new design would be reached, either through another contest or by other means.
