Pocky Princess Shiori Kutsuna to star in Beck live-action

If you recall when the cast for the live-action adaptation of Harold Sakuishi's manga Beck was first announced, we still hadn't heard who would be playing the female lead for the series. After much speculation, it seems as though they've finally settled on an actress, having cast the current Pocky Princess, 16 year-old Shiori Kutsuna, for the role of Maho Minami. This wouldn't be her first role, as she had previously appeared in Yuichi Sato's Shugotenshi, last spring.

For those of us who haven't read the manga, or watched the series, Beck centers around the story of a boy named Koyuki who discovers the world of rock music, and eventually ends up in a band. From what I understand, the live-action film will be a bit different in that it focuses more on the band's leader, Ryusuke. No doubt that this will insure a new experience for those of us who have already seen, or read some of the series. Beck has already started filming and is due out sometime in autumn, 2010.
