Pokemon: Black & White ready to battle on Cartoon Network

Despite phasing out almost all other anime on its schedule, Cartoon Network continues to air Pokemon, because it never stops being popular. We've just gotten word from Comics Alliance that this isn't going to change any time soon, with Cartoon Network set to air the first episodes of Pokemon: Black & White on February 12 at 9AM in a one hour block of poke-goodness. Wisely, they're ditching the Japanese title of the series, Pocket Monsters: Best Wishes! Canadians will have to wait a day for YTV to air its premiere.

Pokemon fans will notice that the last episode of the current storyline will air on February 5, showing Ash leaving his friends yet again after losing a championship yet again. So is there any way Cartoon Network is planning to celebrate the fourteenth -- yes, fourteenth -- season? As previously reported, Cartoon Network will air the thirteenth Pokemon film Zoroark: Master of Illusions at 7PM on February 5. There's no word on whether YTV will be airing the movie as well.

Technically, the film isn't really a premiere of Pokemon: Black & White like they're billing it to be, as it occurs during the previous season and does not feature Ash's two new sidekicks. Still, it features two rare Pokemon, Zorua and Zoroark, who are obtainable in the next Pokemon games via a special event. (Hope you've been grabbing those free shiny pokemon from Gamestop if you want Zoroark! I hear rumors that the next giveaway will help you obtain Zorua...)

With the Pokemon: Black & White games still over a month away from their March 6 release date, you could probably glean lots of interesting info off of the anime in the meantime. Me, I might check out the movie and then look up any actual information on Bulbapedia. Are you interested in watching more adventures of possibly the most incompetent pokemon trainer ever?
