Pokemon: I Choose You! takes us back to the beginning with Ash and Pikachu

GET IN THE BALL

The Pokémon anime (or Pocket Monsters) first aired 20 years ago in Japan back in 1997, and this latest movie is all about celebrating those two decades of the show by going back to the beginning. The new movie, Pocket Monsters the Movie: I Choose You! (known internationally as Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You!), is a retelling of the first episode of the Pokémon anime when Ash (Satoshi) first meets Pikachu and how the forever young duo didn't start off on the right foot.

This retelling is mostly faithful to the original anime, using the older art style with some slight tweaks, and will be appreciated by those just didn't take to the new anime art style based on Pokémon Sun and Moon. One new thing with the movie is hinted that the mythical Pokémon Ho-oh will play a possible bigger role other than just flying by across the sky in the original episode.

The film will premiere in Japan on July 15, 2017. No details on an international release as of this writing yet.

Red likes a lot of things from Japan and wants to share more about it with the world. He even likes the bad anime. Sometimes. As long as it doesn't have big boobs. Maybe. more + disclosures
