Apparently One Piece is too hot for Indonesia

The Indonesian television station GlobalTV  is in a lot of trouble with the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission, or KPI for short, due to questionable material it aired. This is not because it decided to one day play “Tea Bagger Vance” or the Jamaican classic “Poke Her Mon”, but rather the shonen anime One Piece. According to the KPI, it displayed "violent, bloody imagery, sensual looking women," and close-ups of "women's body parts" in a broadcasting spot where the primary audience is children.

This is no joke: those who violate this law can face up to five years in prison, or a 10 billion Rp (about US $1 million) in fines. Poor GlobalTV has a chance to make this right by removing all the fun and flavor from One Piece. Until then, KPI will intensify monitoring of the TV station and "impose sanctions on the TV stations if they fail to make improvements."

I’m not going to lie. One Piece does have some blood, some giant cleavage shots, and some extremely sensual looking women running around in this half-hour show. However, it is nothing to be worried about. In fact, no one dies in this show, and the girls are so perfect that it would be wrong to classify them as human women. Not all is bad, though. If I was the CEO of 4kids Entertainment, I’d take my poor imitation of a One Piece adaptation and sell it to GlobalTV, and make myself a pretty penny.
