Prepare for takeoff: Super Robot Wars BX is now a thing

0

Our King of Braves has returned

It's been a month since 3rd Super Robot Wars Z Part 2 hit Japan and the next title has been revealed. Titled Super Robot Wars BX, this upcoming game's being made for the 3DS and it plans to improve on the features from Super Robot Wars UX. From the looks of it, SRW BX has already abandoned SRW UX's DS-looking sprites in favor of ones that resemble the Z series' style; therefore making it a better installment than the last one on Nintendo's handheld system.

In terms of the new roster, Gundam AGE, SD Gundam Gaiden, Panzer World Galient, Giant Gorg, and Macross 30 are making their debut in the series. Since I've heard nothing but bad things about AGE, this might give the show a chance to receive a better story, since the Super Robot Wars series' been known for fixing their featured mecha anime titles from time to time.

Perhaps the most exciting thing for me is that GaoGaiGar's back in the franchise, which means that we get to see the King of Braves rock the Goldion Hammer in a more flashier manner. Of course, I'm excited that Nadesico and Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact are returning as well. Sure, the new Mazinger was in the second and third Z titles, but this new game lets us see the gang team up with the crew from Mazinkaiser SKL. Combined with Gundam UC, Aura Battler Dunbine, Raijin-Oh, Gundam 00 the Movie, and the Macross Frontier movie's return to the franchise, I think we're in for a good time.

Before I forget, Super Robot Wars BX hits Japan on August 20 for ¥ 6,640 (around U.S. $54.93), which isn't too far away. Seeing that the 3DS can't play Japanese 3DS titles,  I might invest in getting a second handheld to play it. As we wait for SRW BX's inevitably amazing trailer, you can check out the game's first scan below.
