Releases of the Week: Say hello to Shout! Factory's first Pre-Power Rangers Sentai box set

Chojin Sentai Jetoman!!!

It looks like the final week of September marks a historical moment for North America. Why is that? Well, Chojin Sentai Jetman came out, which came out before Mighty Morphin Power Rangers premiered in the U.S.

Based on what I read about it, the program's bird motif gives it a nice Gatchaman vibe. Likely due to Keita Amemiya's (Garo franchise's Creator, Zeiram's Director) direction, it features some violent scenes as well. Hopefully, it does well enough for Shout! Factory to release the other older Super Sentai titles.

Another great thing about the week is the 2004 Tetsujin anime's return from the dead. Best of all, it's Yasuhiro Imagawa's take on the classic robot. If it sounds familiar, you may have seen the original as Gigantor. Since it's been on my radar, I have another chance to obtain it later on.

For once, I come across something I've seen as Gintama°'s second set brings us more Samurai Soul goodness. Even though I'm still behind, the show became one of my favorite comedies, and the Kabuki District is a fun place to go back to during each viewing. At the same time, it does a good job at making you laugh and cry in a consistent manner. Who knows, if it gains more fans, then Viz might revive the manga license. In the meantime, I'll just have to dream some more.
