Relive Anohana the Movie with producer Shimizu Q&A

Anaru is a medical term, but what about Tsuruko?

Did you watch Anohana the Movie last week? I did, and it was definitely at least an one-hankie experience. Now you can relive it, especially the lighter moments, with the above Q&A taken with the producer of the series Hiroyuki Shimizu. It was recorded when he visited the LA screening at the Downtown Independent on Sunday, Feb. 19th.

The questions were taken from the audience, and as you can imagine the questions were all over the place. The Q&A corroborates with what is known about the Anohana script, that writer Mari Okada had to work with the producers to come up with the final work. It also touches on all the nicknames the kids have--many are slang sexual terms. Producer Shimizu goes into detail on some of the main ideas behind the story, and the motivations behind it. The video is made available by the Anime Expo Youtube channel, and this is something unusual in that we never see this kind of thing recorded and put online after the fact, especially since it took place at a movie screening. Likewise, Producer Shimizu also points out the rare opportunity for him to observe an oversea screening, and I think we all can use more occasions of these kinds of things.
