Review: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Set 3 Blu-Ray Set

Last Train Home

I don't think I have to repeat myself on how much I love Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Stardust Crusaders was part of my Top 5 in 2015 and Diamond is Unrbreakable was part of of my Top 5 in 2016. To reiterate why I loved the Stardust Crusaders anime, or rather, the Battle in Egypt arc, the anime adaptation was highly enjoyable and it was very pleasing that it finally got the animation treatment it deserved. The animation was great and it definitely has a great set of characters.

This set continues off after "The High Priestess, Part 2" from the previous set, where they already arrived to Egypt and talked to Suzie Q. We are introduced to a new opening intro, a new member of the Stardust Crusaders gang—Iggy and his stand "The Fool" and our first enemy, N'Doul and his stand "Geb". This is definitely the better half of the series. While the first half isn't bad by any means, this is where things get more tense and there's more at steak, given that it's closer to the finale. The villains as well are the stands are better as well, such as the D'Arby siblings, Vanilla Ice and obviously Dio, who is part of one of the most iconic fights in Shonen history—Jotaro vs Dio.

My feelings about the English dub remain the same in this second half as well. Perhaps it's a little better, or I have grown more tolerant of English dubs in the past few months. However, to reiterate my feelings on the dub, what I enjoyed was that everyone is speaking neutral English with a tone matching their looks and personality instead of giving the characters a forced accent. I still have a personal preference over the original Japanese audio, but I watched the series again in English with no issues.

This another set that must be acquired by any fan of the series. Just like the other two sets, the packaging is amazing, as well as the other goodies included such as the the key animation collection booklet which shows the process of each episode and the beautifully printed art cards.
