Review: Your Name Blu-Ray Set

Can I ask you your name?

So if you were around Japanator last year, you probably stumble upon my Your Name (Kimi no Na Wa as known in Japan) review. Many months later, I finally get my hands of the Blu-ray set of this amazing movie. I will mostly be reviewing the Blu-ray set and not the movie itself. If you want to know my thoughts about the movie, you can check it out here

Your Name (Blu-ray [reviewed], DVD)
Studio: CoMix Wave Films
Licensed By: FUNimation
Released: November 7th, 2017 (NA)
MSRP: $19.99

Your Name is available on both DVD and Blu-Ray and DVD Combo pack. In the Blu-ray pack, the DVD contains just the movie while the Blu-Ray contains both movie and special features such as an interview with Makoto Shinkai, the animation director. He answers questions like what gave him inspiration for Your Name, what personal experiences helped influence the storytelling and characters ins hi works, and more. It also has Makoto Shinkai’s filmography in form of a video, a “special tv program”, and trailers about other works licensed by FUNImation.

The movie comes with an English audio track, the original Japanese audio track, as well as English subtitles. Just like a lot of my previous Blu-ray reviews, I always have a problem when these anime sets don’t include an actual English subtitle track to go along the English Dub and just include the Japanese version one, which is very lazy.

If you missed out watching the movie in theaters (though by now you probably watched it by other means), I would recommend getting this Blu-ray set. Even if you’ve already watched it in theaters, if you really liked the movie, buying this set is the best way to support this movie and overall a good product. The extra content is definitely a nice bonus as well.

Impressive effort with a few noticeable problems holding it back. Won't astound everyone, but is worth your time and cash.
