Rurouni Kenshin gets two new live action films

Kyoto arc here we come!

I quite liked the first live action Rurouni Kenshin film.

It combined the first few smaller arcs of the original series, and did a pretty bang-up job with the source material. I noted in my review that there were plenty of hooks in the film that could lead to potential sequels, and it looks like I wasn't wrong.

The August issue of Jump Square reveals that two new live action Rurouni Kenshin films are coming next summer. Takeru Satoh is returning to reprise his role as Kenshin Himura, and I'd say it's probably fairly likely that everybody else is coming back too.

These films will be covering the beloved Kyoto arc, which means the filmmakers got a whole lot of work to do. I'm feeling pretty hopeful about the whole thing though.

What about you?
