Sanrio's 50th anniversary 'Small Gift' event in LA

0

Sanrio, creator of the world famous Hello Kitty, is celebrating it's 50th anniversary with a special event here in Los Angeles and in Miami. They also have a "Pop-up Shop" touring multiple cities in the US. And lucky for you guys, my girlfriend brought me with her!

So very lucky...

The event here in LA, which is taking place on selected dates through the 21st of this month, is occupying a large airplane hanger at the Santa Monica Airport and is filled to the teeth with all sorts of cute attractions.

Giant Hello Kitty & Friends heads float above this magical land filled with enough cuteness to make you vomit. But in a really cute way. There's Hello Kitty Mini Golf, Hello Kitty Farris Wheel, Hello Kitty face-painting, Hello Kitty Art exhibit, Hello Kitty Carnival Games, and my favorite, Hello Kitty & Friends Yogurtland. Mmm, yummy kitty.

Also at the event were exclusive Hello Kitty swag available only in the gift shop or as prizes for the carnival games. One such prize, the elusive Hello Kitty & Friends Tote Bag, took me 3 tries at $6 a shot to leave without being a disappointment.

Personally, I found the art exhibit to be quite interesting. A wide array of artistic styles brought together by a single white cat.

Meow!

If you are interested in going to this event in either LA or Miami, or want to check out the traveling store, check out the Sanrio site for dates and more info. While admission to the event is free, be prepared to shell out some serious cash if you want the good stuff.
