School uniform encyclopedia is good for design reference

At least, that's how I'd like to think of it. In an ideal world I imagine some kind of up-and-coming fashion designer might leaf through this book, titled "High School Uniform Encyclopedia ~ Zukai Joshiko Seifuku Hyakka" and finding inspiration for the next wave of trendy uniform-ish clothes worn by hip Japanese youngsters, but the reality might be a little different.

The premise is inventive enough, showing off moe girls wearing school uniforms based on the actual designs used by real-life high schools, but the fact that all the girls are drawn as moe rather than in a style more suited to realistic design shows that the book is more meant for the casual uniform otaku, or perhaps someone looking for the right high school to stalk.

Then again, a character designer might use uniforms from this book to establish styles to use in the next big TV show. Some studios have done quite well doing similar things with background and location art, as Lucky Star did for Saitama prefecture and the Washinomiya shrine.
