SDCC: Viz and Dark Horse part 2

Okay, so now that the craziness of preview night is over, I managed to get a decent look at the Viz and Dark Horse booths. Surprisingly, there wasn't a lot there-- at least for me. For all the space Viz took up, you'd think they'd be able to afford a credit card reader, but no. They can spend their money on a huge 20 foot long banner of Detroit Metal City (which is awesome, btw) but they can't be bothered to sign up for credit card transactions.  Aside from their primitive storefront at the con, Viz did have a nice little Q&A session going on for Naruto fans to win stuff. I can only assume the prizes were related, and likely plushies like you could find in the UFO Catcher game they had attached to the booth.

As for Dark Horse, they had plenty of stuff there, but most of it was related to their western comics, which I get is probably a big deal at Comic Con-- it's not called Manga Con. That said, the manga selection they had on sale was dismal to say the least. I tried to include some photos so you could clearly see the two shelves they dedicated to manga. It's kind of scary how little they seemed to care about it in comparison to their comics, but I guess you have to promote what sells. If western comics are doing better, then I guess we really should just keep expecting to see that shelf space shrink year after year. I'll try to make the Viz panel today, however it coincides with a few other panels which I might have to attend instead. Still, I'll try to find out if anything is getting announced and I'll throw that information up if or when that happens, so keep checking back.
