Shinichiro Watanabe to direct Zankyo no Tokyo on Noitamina

Yoko Kanno is confirmed, too!

Shinichiro Watanabe isn't letting up anytime soon! With his recent success in Space Dandy, he's been staying in the spotlight more and more. Noitamina has just announced several new items, but the most exciting is Watanabe's new show, Zankyo no Tokyo (which looks to be localized as Terror in Tokyo). After the great work done on Kids on the Slope, it's no surprise that he'll be continuing to work with Mappa, along with Samurai Champloo character designer Kazuto Nakazawa. You've already sold me, Watanabe!

But wait, there's more! Yoko Kanno is also confirmed to be composing the soundtrack for the series. Score! As far as story goes, it'll tell the tale of a terrorist attack on Japan, done by two boys. But it doesn't stop there, as it appears they have even bigger plans for the entire country. I'm really excited, as this concept seems compelling and interesting. Hopefully we'll get some more details soon, but until then, check out the eerie first PV above! The show starts in July.
