Simulcast GET: Crunchyroll grabs Saki The Nationals

Over-the-top Mahong for everyone!

As we're preparing for the 2014 Winter Anime Season, Crunchyroll is getting ready to play their hand in the game known as anime simulcasting. For their first move, Crunchyroll has announced that they're going to simulcast Saki – The Nationals, the true sequel to the original Saki anime.

I may not be too familiar with the Saki series, but I've heard that the show manages to turn mahong into a ridiculous spectacle. Come to think of it, why haven't I seen this show yet?! For one, I'm a huge fan of dynamic moves in fiction. On top of that, I find the extreme enthusiasm behind most competitions to be entertaining. Based on those two statements, my final answer is that I was defeated by time itself.

Anyway, the new season of Saki will be streaming worldwide on January 5th at 10:30 a.m. for Premium members; however, the simulcast won't be available to those who live in Japan. If you happen to be a free member, then you'll have to wait a week after the Crunchyroll premiere.

To those who have kept up with Saki so far, is the anime series worth checking out?
