Sony to release SDAT-styled Evangelion Walkman

Sony still makes the Walkman?

Sony is releasing a special Neon Genesis Evangelion edition of their F-series Walkman that looks like Shinji's SDAT, along with another version that's branded with a NERV logo. Both versions come with the option to have either one or all three of the Evangelion films' soundtracks pre-loaded on the player. The package with one pre-loaded soundtrack will cost ¥43,000 while the package with all three soundtracks costs ¥51,000. There's also an option that comes with a set of XBA-H3 headphones, which will set you back a whopping ¥87,000. At least you get all three soundtracks with that package. All sets go on sale April 24, 11:00 JST.

Considering that it's branded with Evangelion material, I'm actually surprised this isn't more expensive. Based off U.S. prices of the F-series Walkman, it looks like these are pretty close to retail price. While I have no need for another MP3 player, these don't look too bad if you're in the market for one. Well, at least the normal versions. That package with headphones looks nuts.
