Studio MADHOUSE winds up for One Punch Man anime

Fingers crossed!

[Update: Check out a hot cam promo for the show below, straight from the AnimeJapan 2015 show floor!]

I must say that as hyped-up as I am about the prospect of a hot new anime adaptation of One Punch Man, the skeptic in me knows that capturing what's great about the original manga will depend largely on how good the adapting studio is at putting out lavish, high-quality visuals, ones that can do justice to artist Yusuke Murata's illustrations.

It seems like the powers that be are aware of that as well, as Shueisha's brought in legendary studio Madhouse to animate the series. Hopefully it's the Madhouse that built Redline rather than the one that built those Marvel comic spin-offs. The slated director is Shingo Natsume, who helped out with Space Dandy, a show that, more anything else, felt like a showcase of weird and wild animation concepts. Chikashi Kubota will be handling character designs. Tomohiro Suzuki, who doesn't have a lot beyond a few episodes of Tiger & Bunny to his name, is in charge of scripts, but on that front I'm not too worried. One Punch Man isn't known for its dialog, anyway.

Voice casting has also been announced for Saitama and Genos. The two leads will be played by Makoto Furukawa (who plays Shigou on Aldnoah.Zero) and Kaito Ishikawa (who plays Ledo in Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet), respectively.
