Supernatural: The Anime Series is out in July for America

That's a fast turn-around! While the anime adaptation of the American TV series Supernatural got a staggered release in Japan - episodes 1-2 on January 12, episodes 3-12 on February 2, and episodes 13-22 on April 6 - North American viewers will get the whole show in one go.

On July 26, Warner Home Video will release the Madhouse co-production on DVD, Blu-ray, and video on-demand services. The DVD set will cost $49.98, but with the Blu-ray only costing $54.97 in comparison, you'd be crazy not to go with the high-def version. VOD pricing will be determined at a later date.

Like the Japanese version, the American release will include both Japanese and English dubs. Since it's practically an American show, I'm sure some of you sub-only people might consider watching the American dub, especially since it features actor Jared Padalecki providing the voice for his character Sam Winchester just like on the show. Strangely, co-star Jensen Ackles had difficulty providing the voice for his character Dean Winchester due to scheduling conflicts. The best he could manage to do were the final two episodes, with voice actor Andrew Farrar voicing Dean for the other twenty episodes.

It's probably due to Warner Home Video releasing it instead of other companies, but hot damn, $55 for an entire 22-episode series on Blu-ray. I wish this happened more often with anime! Take note, Gundam Unicorn, selling a 57-minute Blu-ray for $50!
