Survey time! Japan tells us what should be the next live-action adaptation

With all the news of anime being transformed into live-action monsters movies, Oricon decided to ask Japanese fans what they would like to have adapted into the live-action medium. This survey questioned 900 people across the internet between April 20 and 24. They were first tested with a question asking them if they were interested in manga, if answered yes, then they were allowed to participate in the rest of the survey.

The results are not too surprising; in fact, the list almost matches Japan’s tastes in the top ten manga series they enjoy as well. The number one choice was Takehiko Inoue’s Slam Dunk, which would not be a bad candidate for a movie, but even better as a television series. Second on the list is One Piece, which would make a horrible live-action movie, television show, or anything for that matter. I say that, but I’d still watch it if it came out.

Third on the list is Kimi ni Todoke, which isn’t a manga I am familiar with. But from what I read it would be a perfect match for live action as well. In fact, a lot of romance shojo can be made into live-action without problem. Other notables that would make great live-action adaptations would be Monster, Ouran Host Club, Fullmetal Alchemist, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Check out the entire top ten list after the jump.

1. Slam Dunk
2. One Piece
3. Kimi ni Todoke
4. We Were There
5. Monster
6. Gintama
7. Ouran High School Host Club
8. Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai
9. Fullmetal Alchemist
10. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
