Team Fortress 2 hat sales raise money for Japan

As we all know, Team Fortress 2 has become a game that is purely about the collection of hats. Don't fight me on this one, if you play it, you know it's true. And yet, somehow this inane collection of virtual wares is doing some good in the world.

Recently, TF2 had a two-week charity drive for Japan relief, which sold limited edition in-game hats in order to rake in the cash for a good cause. And wouldn't you know it, it worked. In just the course of two weeks, TF2 raised $430,543.65 for disaster relief aid in Japan. Man, I knew this game had become about hats, but I had no idea how far gone it is!

Oh and before you go thinking that this number is just some crazy estimate, know that Valve actually announced this. That's right, if Gabe says it, it must be true.
