The Bestsellers: KPP's new single rocks Japan

The top charts for the week of April 26th

Welcome to The Bestsellers List, where we highlight the bestselling music and movies in Japan, along with the best of the American manga sales each week.

I think it's no surprise that Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is back at the top of the Japanese charts. With the debut of her new single, she's already back in the top three of the Oricon charts, and will no doubt stay there for a few weeks. Buyers have recently been voting for the same singles over and over again, which you can see in the full chart.

Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier made a bigger splash than I expected, raking in $1.94 million in its opening weekend. I didn't expect the ultra-USA propaganda man to be such a big draw, but the Japanese are suckers for action flicks. Plus, if you're watching Iron Man or The Avengers, it helps to see all the other movies in the Marvel Universe.

Let's take a look at the top titles from each list:

Oricon's Top Three Songs

1. Jikuu wo Koe, Uchuu wo Koe by Morning Musume '14
2. Family Party by KPP
3. Step  by ClariS

New York Times' Top Three Manga

1. Naruto Vol. 65
2. Crimson Spell Vol. 3
3. Sword Art Online: Aincrad

Japan's Top Three Box Office Films
