The Bestsellers List: Top music, movies, and manga for March 28

0

Welcome to The Bestsellers List, where we highlight the bestselling music and movies in Japan, along with the best of the American manga sales each week.

Here's a shocking development: Attack on Titan title tops the best-selling manga list. With the first of many Attack on Titan spinoffs debuting this week, retailers are stocking up on all of the people-eating goods that they can. Rather than be a fly-by-night license, the Attack on Titan property is here to stay and drain as much money from you as possible. I'm glad to see the manga drawing so much attention, but I wonder how the light novels will hold up once they're released?

On the music side, I just want to point out the song Naniwa no Haniwa by Takoyaki Rainbow. First off, the band name. Imagine a rainbow made of takoyaki. Second, listen to as much of the song as you can. Now I get the saccharine nature of most of the girl groups, but this takes it to a new level. It's aimed at little kids, but I have the odd suspicion that they're not the ones buying this music in droves. I think it's the creepers obsessed with Momoiro Clover Z.

Let's take a look at the top titles from each list:

Oricon's Top Three Songs

1. Mirai to ha? by SKE48
2. Boku no Soba ni ha Hoshi ga Aru by Tackey & Tsubasa
3. Hadaka no Hadaka no Hadaka no Kiss by Juice = Juice
