The Bestsellers: Thermae Romae heats up Japan

The top charts for the week of May 3rd

Japan's love affair with bath houses proves to dominate once again, as Thermae Romae II takes second place in the Japanese box office, behind Disney powerhouse Frozen. The first Thermae Romae movie did incredibly well, and was a genuine laugh-fest. It's only natural that the extremely popular manga would see a sequel in the theatres, helping to drive a hoard of Japanese viewers to the movies.

On the US manga front, it's been a weak week, which allowed Watamote a chance to hit the top of the charts. While it's a popular title, top honors have eluded it -- a weak release schedule gave it the chance at some high visibility. But watch, next week it's stock will plummet.

Let's take a look at some of the top titles this week:

Oricon's Top Three Songs

1. Ee Janai ka? by Johnny's West
2. Never Let You Go by Generations from Exile Tribe
3. Sore ha Bokudatchi no Kiseki by μ's
