The Wii Mini is coming to the US after all

Blimey, I forgot about this thing. It was nearly a year ago that the Wii Mini launched in Canada, and earlier this year for the UK release. I say that loosely, because I've still yet to see a Wii Mini being sold at retail, just the odd online retailer asking way too much for this gutted Wii console. Which makes it even stranger that after so much time, in a period where Nintendo should be giving its newer console more of a push, that they should finally release this thing in the US. Answers on a postcard, please.

Still, if you've somehow managed to avoid picking up a Wii and don't care about being able to play Gamecube games and going online, maybe you should pick this up. It's certainly not a bad deal for $100, and you could probably pass it off as something other than a Wii. Let's be honest, if you're not buying this console for the looks, you'd just be picking up one of the many pre-owned or reduced price Wii consoles.

Is this an attempt to get unknowing parents to double down by accident for Christmas? It wouldn't surprise me, as the $100 asking price will also net you a copy of Mario Kart Wii. You know, this is an odd suggestion, but you could just play Wii games on a Wii U instead. I'm not marketer, but perhaps that's where the marketing budget should be going.
