This is Metal Gear Solid V's big trailer, and its thesis

And a lot of talking

No matter what you might think of Hideo Kojima and the series that made his name, there's no doubting that each one is something of an event, and it looks like Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain won't be an exception either. The new trailer Konami have released for E3 contains all the stuff Metal Gear's biggest fans look for, namely lengthy dialog about philosophy, war, and culture, juxtaposed with over-the-top action.

The trailer's got plenty of that, as well as a release date: September 1st, 2015, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It also talks quite a bit about language and its use in transmitting the values of conquering nations, which is fitting for a game that partly takes place in Afghanistan. Also, Snake himself is surprisingly silent, and we don't get a line from him until the very end, with Kiefer Sutherland uttering the code name for the project that birthed his two "sons", Solid and Liquid Snake.
