Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer heads to Blu-Ray in Japan

The classic gets a new coat of paint

Fans of the classic annoying aliens can rejoice early next year with the release of the 1984 classic, Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer. The Mamoru Oshii classic was a game changer in the world of anime feature films, and led to the birth of Oshii's unique take on the genre. During the production of the film, series creator Rumiko Takashi rejected Oshii's script due to its differences from the original story, not understanding his want to not cater to fans.

The film is regarded as the best in Lum's film outings, and stands as one of my all time favorite anime. The Blu-Ray is set to hit shelves at the beginning of next year in Japan, but no Stateside releases have been announced. It has also unfortunately been confirmed that the commentary by Oshii and others will not be included in this disk. Let's get this released!
