Usain Bolt and Pikachu Thunderbolts us all by joining Team Skull on Pokemon Day

Happy Pokemon Day!

Happy 21st Birthday to Pokémon! Now get those legal drinking age jokes out of your system because today is the anniversary of the Japanese release of Pokémon back in 1996. Now, Pokémon is stronger than ever with their behemoth of a franchise and a new commercial for their latest mainline games came out today featuring one of the fastest men alive, Usain Bolt.

In the commercial below, Usain Bolt and Pikachu get all tough with some Team Skull antics such as menacingly squatting in place. Bolt also threatens us with Pikachu's "juu-man volt" or "Thunderbolt" move (Because his name is 'Bolt', get it?) as well proclaiming that we cannot run away from him (which is totally true). Truly, Bolt is probably the only person who can ever come close to truly "blast off at the speed of light".

What is in store for Pokémon day today? Well, people in the US can watch three Pokémon movies online: Pokémon: The First MoviePokémon 4Ever, and Pokémon - Zoroark: Master of Illusions over at Pokémon.com or on Pokémon TV.

Starting yesterday, Pokémon GO will have a festive hat wearing Pikachu so you know that Pikachu is ready to party. Catch some Pokémon gaming today over at the Twitch Pokémon channel where they're broadcasting a lot of Pokémon gaming footage all day from Pokémon TCG, Pokémon Games, and Pokkén Tournament.

More Pokémon Day details over at Pokémon.com.
