[Update: An earlier version of this post erroneously asserted that Scarlet Moon Productions was responsible for the release of the Valkyria Chroniclesoundtrack, when it only provided promotional support for Basiscape's release. Japanator regrets the error.]

Valkyria Chronicles may be best known for its portrayal of what essentially amounts to "anime World War II", but it also had a really good soundtrack, on top of all that cell-shaded military madness. That orchestral score came courtesy of Basiscape and composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, who also provided music for such games as Final Fantasy XII, Odin Sphere, and Breath of Fire V.

Now the album is available for the first time outside Japan, and overseas fans of Sakimoto or the Valkyria Chronicles series can pick up the album on iTunes. The full soundtrack from the game is included on the soundtrack, including the vocal track "Succeeded Wish", sung by voice actress Megumi Toyoguchi, who plays Rosie in the game. A piano solo version of the track is also included as a bonus.

I've always been pretty interested in seeing more overseas game soundtracks make it outside Japan. Was there anything you're hoping to see?
