Video game Steins;Gate is now an anime

Though details won't be revealed until the September issues of Newtype and COMPUTIQ, Chiyomaru Shikura, head of game developer 5pb., announced via his Twitter account that the video game Steins;Gate will be receiving an anime adaptation. A joint production between 5bp. and Nitroplus, the game is considered their second "scientific adventure game" and is an indirect sequel to their prior release Chaos;HEAd, which received an anime adapatation by Madhouse in 2008.

Steins;Gate will be a suspenseful story set in a realistic depiction of otaku haven Akihabara. Though not stated, the new anime could possibly draw on elements from a manga adaptation by Yomi Sarachi or the spin-off manga Steins;Gate: Bokan no Rebellion by Kenji Mizuta.

The thing that catches my eye most about my announcement is the beautiful artwork I found during a quick search on the game. The character designs were done by Huke, best known as the creator of the Black Rock Shooter character, which I seem to be unable to avoid mentioning in articles this week. Spoiler: my next article also mentions her!
