VIZ Media announce a big sale and some new additions

Sales are always a good thing

Viz Media have announced that from now through January 15th, all of the manga titles purchasable at Viz Manga (or on the VIZ Manga app) are 20% off. This includes such titles as Naruto and One Piece, Hana Kimi, Magi, Honey and Clover, Ouran High School Host Club, Boys Over Flowers, Nana, Ruroni Kenshin, and Toriko.

For those who are a few volumes behind, or in other cases, well-stocked except for a few missing teeth on your shelf, this is a nice sale to get all caught up. The store boasts over 2,000 volumes of manga in total, and there's sure to be something for everyone. If nothing else, maybe this is a great opportunity to get that one friend or family member to try starting a new series.

Now, on to the new stuff!

The first announcement is there's a new sports manga to debut this month titled Whistle!, and it's rated for all ages. Here's the quick summary:

Everybody has a dream, and for Sho Kazamatsuri, that dream is simple: he wants to be the best soccer player he can possibly be. He's the spirited leader of the Josui Junior High team and everyone looks up to him. In turn, he tries to keep the team together at any cost! Catch the on and off the field drama and action in this series by Daisuke Higuchi.

The second announcement is that a boatload of Pokémon manga is being launched digitally for iBooks, Nook, GooglePlay, Kobo, and Kindle. The series that are being digitized are:

  • Pokémon Adventures (vol.s 1-4)
  • Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure! (vol.s 1-8)
  • Pokémon Adventures: Diamond and Pearl Platinum (vol.s 1-4)
  • Pokémon Black and White (vol.s 1-4)

All of these books are rated for all ages, and each volume will be selling for US$3.99-4.99, with the exception of vol. 1 of Whistle! which is going to debut at US$6.99. Images of the covers for the new books are in the gallery below.
