VIZ releases Detroit Metal City on DVD

0

VIZ Pictures is releasing the live-action film of Detroit Metal City on DVD November 9. The film is directed by Toshio Lee and based upon the original manga by Kiminori Wakasugi. The movie is available in Japanese with English subtitles and will be available for $24.92 U.S./$35.99 CAN, which I suppose isn't a terrible price considering how much some of us are willing to spend on anime DVDs.

In celebration of the release, VIZ is also hosting a one night only screening of Detroit Metal City at 7:15 pm on November 4th at VIZ Cinema, which is inside NEW PEOPLE in the middle of San Fran's Japantown at 1746 Post St., San Francisco CA 94115. Deluxe tickets will be available for $25.00 and provides a viewing of the film, a copy of the DVD, a poster and stickers, and entry for a raffle for other Detroit Metal City prizes. The regular ticket is only $10.00, which isn't too bad considering my own movie theatre at home charges more than that!

As some of you may know, Detroit Metal City is Japan's uproarious rock-comedy, filled with ridiculousness of all sorts, and I'm sure this film will be even crazier with the appearance of Gene Simmons of KISS and Marty Friedman of Megadeth, who are quite the established personalities themselves. The movie stars Ken'ichi Matsuyama, best known for his role of "L" in the Death Note movies. For a full synopsis and more information, you may want to visit the VIZ Pictures Website.
