Viz to put out K as an A-grade Blu-ray combo pack

Pretty boys and pretty pack-ins

Much as I've embraced our digital media future, I still have a soft spot in my heart for sweet physical extras. After all, I did once buy a copy of Sakura Taisen that I didn't have a machine for just to get a hilarious-looking steampunk pocket watch. And it looks like Viz are after just that crowd with their plans for K's physical release.

Viz plans to release the complete 13-episode series in two forms: A big ol' 4-disc limited edition Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, and a standard 2-disc DVD edition. The limited edition will be packed into a special box with a full-color 80-page art book containing character profiles, poster art, episode synopses and translated song lyrics. On the disc will be a special documentary titled  An Interview with KANAME☆, which follows a popular Japanese pro cosplayer as he prepares to promote the debut of K at last year's Anime Exp. English cast and crew interviews, trailers, clean OP and ED sequences will round out the disc extras. Fans who pick up the series through Robert’s Anime Corner or Right Stuf (along with other select anime retailers) will also score a set of K stickers.

Looks like they're going all out to promote this saga of pretty anime boys in stylish blue-green filter. I'll admit that I wasn't especially interested in the show when it first came out, but Viz's commitment to it seems to imply that there was something worthwhile. Maybe I'll give it a look sometime.
