Which Japanese menswear magazine are you?

ACL provides insight into the wide array of premium men's mags

A Continuous Lean is one of the premiere sites for menswear content, and they have a nice breakdown of some of the Japanese men's magazines out there. If you've ever been interested in what Japan has to show you, their guide will give you an idea of which shrink-wrapped tome to pick up.

Why look at Japanese menswear magazines, you ask? Why not just read regular GQ or Esquire or Details? When it comes to good menswear, the Japanese are reverential to history and detail. Their magazines aren't chock full of fast fashion, and can read more like a textbook than your typical magazine article.

Oh, and it's got lots of lovely photos of fabrics.

Sure, the Japanese will have some stranger trends, especially when it comes to streetwear and some of the more "out there" preppy stuff, but by and large you'll be able to find some really useful stuff in there. Personally, I'm a Free & Easy and Men's Club person. Check out these magazines next time you're at a Kinokuniya or any importer of Japanese magazines. Some even come with neat accessories -- one Men's Club issue gave me a camo pocket square I still use to this day.
